The lighthouse confidently sits at shore, shining its light as a brilliant beam of illumination, in the direction of the darkness.

Its intention is firm and strong, as it patiently awaits those in need of its light.

The lighthouse safely guides the ships at sea further towards it, in its direction, onward to safety, and out of harms way during the darkest of moments, when it seems the voyage is unsurpassable.

Lighthouses need not chase after the sails. This is not their assignment. Nor is it their agreement.

Rather, the lighthouse guides quietly, assuring that its light is bright and sufficient. This task is unfathomable during stormy seas. Inexplicable at foggy dawn.

Likewise is the illumination of your inner-knowing.

Likewise is the illumination of your soul.

Let this be for those who have eyes that see and ears that hear.

Stay strong and vibrant on your task. The lighthouse beams quietly from within.

~as given from Jeshua to Dahlia in meditation on 3-1-2011.

May this message be for all who are in need during the "quieter" moments. And inspiration for those who are in the midst of "stormy seas." Blessings to you.

Let our heart sing, our soul dance and whatever that looks like, feels like, as long as we are harming no thing and no one, well then we just need to do it.

This seems like a simple concept.

But for many, this requires much effort.

My little ones are constantly reminding me how to do this. If only I allow them to teach!

This morning I had a little teaching lesson in the car on the way to school in traffic.

Our twin boys, who attend Kindergarten and are 5-years-old, made a special request to this morning's DJ (me): "Mama put on the music."

I pressed "play" on the CD, it was Madonna.

"Oh well, let's see if this flies," I thought. Well it did. A little too well I suppose.

Madonna proceeded to sing "La Isla Bonita," a little island diddy that really brings up visuals of tropical breezes, blue lagoons, hot sun shining, and naps on the beach for the next 25 minutes.

The boys kept asking me to play this song over and over all the way to school. By the time we got there, both boys were in a VERY happy place, needless to say. Their toothy grins were beaming as they greeted their teacher, Ms. Brenna. And that always makes Mama happy.

As I left them and climbed back into my car with Madonna still belting her South of the Border number, I thought to myself, "Each day should start like this one."

It doesn't matter how many times in a row (yes that could've been highly annoying) but I just played to their little soul's content. And they taught me how to listen.
Listen to the little ones. And listen to my heart.

No matter how many times it takes, not matter how it might appear to others (odd, strange, weird, annoying or whatever -- as long as you're not hurting anyone) do what it takes to reach that happy place that your soul is longing to experience. It can be found in the simplest of things and in the smallest of joys. Music is a great place to begin!

Here's a link to the song, in case you want to hear it too. It will really get you happy! And the Divine wants us all to seek the happiness that is found within our own hearts! Blessings abound!

A funny thing happened in the grocery store yesterday, that I simply must share: this random lady, with dark bobbed hair and a bright and shiny grin, beamed a smile to me and said hello as we passed along the isles. I didn't know her at all.

Minutes later she walked up to me (and my little boy, who was sick and home from school and went along with me), and she handed us a box of gingerbread cookie mix. She said, "Here you go. I thought you would like this." I told her thank you so much. I asked her if she was okay, as I sort of was befuddled by this random cookie mix coming my way. She told me that her little boy and husband were both home sick and she was just trying to get out of the house for a bit. We gabbed for a bit, then she said bye and left. I said so long and smiled all the way home.

This lady, who was well-dressed, quite pretty, and seemed like a rather predictable and bopsy Westlake Austin housewife, didn't seem like someone who would shop for friends in the grocery store. But today, she was trying to connect to someone. Anyone to help her feel better and get some "fresh air" I thought.

Her inner-guidance system had led her straight to us. She needed healing and was reaching out, and offering all that she had. A box of gingerbread mix. Random acts of kindness in a sometimes lonely world. Today I enjoyed those fresh-baked ginger cookies and they seemed heaven sent. I enjoyed them and then I thanked the Divine for the opportunity to do this work and to be of service. I thank the Divine now for her light that was shown to us. The Divine shows up in small packages sometimes. It also appears in lonely passerby's who need to be needed and feel appreciated. It shows up in our own ability to receive and to truly accept all kinds of gifts that manifest, with gratitude and without judgment.

I passed the extra cookies along to my niece in the hospital and to her family this afternoon. The ripple effect of kindness and light can beam a very long way...

And that was how my grocery store visit went.

Just another day....

until next time.

Over and out.

~ The prayer of Ho’oponopono. (A prayer, that if said repeatedly each day, will bring infinite joy, wisdom, love and abundance into your life!)

Repeat constantly, not directed anywhere in particular, although you may offer it to the Divine, or your/others inner child. The energy and vibration of these words have the power to heal and cleanse all levels, in all directions of time and space. These are true 'words of power'. Somehow they connect with whatever needs their energy to heal, within us and others, and we do not even need to know what or how for it to be effective. In Ho'oponopono, a person assumes 100% responsibility for their reality (with NO sense of self blame). They know that what they have created, they can change, for accepting responsibility means accepting power. Nothing is ever anyone else's fault. To change experience/reality there is only ever one thing to work on...one's self. You may direct the following prayer to your god/dess, an experience, your past lives, any part of yourself or anyone else..to your cat, dog, or even your car...it may not make sense to your CONSCIOUS mind, but your DEEP MIND (subconscious/superconscious) really GETS IT. It can be instant, or a gradual process. Either way, it WORKS.

If you need help with practicing Ho'opononopo or want to know more about this mantra, please contact me. I always am happy to assist you on your Divine Path to compassionate love and wisdom! As we are all traveling this magical road together.

"I thought he was going to get trampled," recalled Rupert Isaacson, Rowan's father.

But the horse, Betsy, dipped her head and chewed with her mouth in submission. Isaacson, who had trained horses for a living, had never seen it happen so spontaneously. Rowan had seemingly made a connection.

The Austin, Texas, family had been struggling with Rowan.

His wild tantrums were nearly driving Isaacson and his wife, Kristin Neff, to divorce. All the while, little Rowan was becoming unreachable.

"He would just stare off into space," Isaacson said. "I was worried it was going to get progressively worse and that eventually, he might float away from us entirely. Luckily, right about that time is when he met Betsy."

Isaacson began riding Betsy, a neighbor's horse, with Rowan. He says he noticed immediate improvement in his son's language skills. Watch Rowan and Betsy »

"He would start to answer. He would start to talk. We would do song games up there on the saddle. I would take books up there in the saddle," Isaacson said.

Autism specialists say that horse riding can be effective in gaining access to autistic children.

Experts make a distinction between the kind of recreational therapeutic riding Isaacson was using with Rowan and hippotherapy, which is a medical treatment that uses horses and is supervised by a licensed speech-language pathologist.

"People perceive it's the interaction with the horse that's making the change. However, the movement of the horse is extremely powerful, and it's that movement that's having neurological impact on the autistic child," said Ruth Dismuke-Blakely, a speech-language pathologist and hippotherapy clinical specialist in Edgewood, New Mexico.

'House Call'
Watch more on Rowan's amazing journey this weekend on "House Call."
7:30 a.m. ET Saturday and Sunday House Call »

According to preliminary analysis of an ongoing study by Dismuke-Blakely, hippotherapy has been shown to increase verbal communication skills in some autistic children in as little as 18 to 25 minutes of riding once a week for eight weeks.

"We see their arousal and affect change. They become more responsive to cues. If they are at a point where they are using verbal cues, you get more words," Dismuke-Blakely said. "It's almost like it opens them up. It gives us access."

She cautions that a horse's movements can be powerful. For some autistic children, riding too long can overstimulate their nervous system, leading to more erratic behavior.

On Betsy, Rowan was at ease. After about three weeks, Isaacson says, Rowan's improved behavior was translating into the home and outside world as well.

But not consistently.

In late 2004, Isaacson, a human rights activist, brought a delegation of African bushmen from Botswana to the United Nations. Among the men were traditional healers, who offered to work with Rowan.

Isaacson says he was skeptical, but he had experience with the bushmen and allowed the healers to lay their hands on his son.

"I was kind of flabbergasted at Rowan's response. For about four days while they were with him, he started to lose some of his symptoms. He started to point, which was a milestone he hadn't achieved," Isaacson said.

When the tribal healers left, Rowan regressed.

Isaacson says he couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he were to give Rowan a longer exposure to the two things that he seemed to have responded well to: horses and shamans.

"I know it sounds completely crazy," he said. "I just had a gut feeling."

Isaacson took his wife and son to Mongolia.

Don't Miss

"It's the oldest horse culture on the planet. Everyone still gets around on a horse there -- so a nomadic culture. The word 'shaman' comes from there," Isaacson said, explaining his decision. "I just thought, 'Well, what if we went there and rode across the steppe and visited traditional healers? You know, what might happen for Rowan? Might there be some positive outcomes?' "

Trekking across the Mongolian prairie on horseback, Isaacson says, Rowan's behavior was changed dramatically.

"Rowan was not cured of autism out there," Isaacson stressed. "The word 'cure' is not in my vocabulary for this. Rowan came back without three key dysfunctions that he had. He went out to Mongolia incontinent and still suffering from these neurological firestorms -- so tantruming all the time and cut off from his peers, unable to make friends -- and he came back with those three dysfunctions having gone."

Isaacson credits Rowan's improvement to horses and time in nature -- and to shamanic healing, which he says he simply can't explain rationally.

Isaacson has written a book, "The Horse Boy," about Rowan's autism.

Rowan, now 7, rides Betsy by himself. His parents never abandoned more orthodox treatments for his autism, and Rowan's applied behavioral analysis therapist has him studying math and English at the third-grade level -- a full year ahead of some of his peers.

"He's just becoming a very functional autistic person," Isaacson said.

Health Library

As far as the Isaacson family's journey took them, it is the same hard slog facing millions of families gripped by autism.

"A lot of the parents go to the ends of the Earth in their own living rooms every day," Isaacson said. "I mean, we had more stressful car rides to the grocery store than any of the stresses and challenges of the trip to Mongolia."

You don't have to get on a horse -- or plane to Siberia -- for relief. For autism families, Isaacson encourages parents to simply follow their instincts and listen to what their child shows them.

"In our case, it was horses in Mongolia and these shamans," Isaacson said. "It could just as easily have been bicycles and, you know, steam trains. And if it had been, we'd have done a steam train journey. We'd have done whatever Rowan seemed to be showing us he wanted to do, because that was where he was intrinsically motivated."

Miracle cure or exploitation?

Susannah Pearce investigates the controversy surrounding Dolphin Assisted Therapy.

There is no doubt that dolphins fascinate people, but can they really change lives? In the last few years Dolphin Assisted Therapy has become increasingly popular for treating children with cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome and autism, as well as other disabilities.
“Dolphins are such gentle and perceptive animals and children really respond to them. They attract attention, stimulate awareness and interest, and provoke excitement and motivation.” explains Anna Salamonowicz, Director of Rett Syndrome Association UK. People who have Rett syndrome have an affinity for water and are clearly more interested in faces, people and movement than in static toys.”
Researchers claim that the sounds made by dolphins may actually modify human brainwaves, cause changes in the nervous system, promote relaxation and strengthen the immune system.
Dolphin Assisted Therapy is based on the theory of behaviour modification. Used in conjunction with traditional therapies such as physio and speech therapy, interaction with the dolphins is used as a motivating reward for the child. It was first developed in 1978 by Dr. David Nathanson, a psychologist with extensive experience of working with disabled children. According to his research, the dolphins ‘jump start’ the children, increasing their concentration so that responses to the therapies can be made.
However, the Born Free Foundation argues that Dolphin Assisted Therapy exploits vulnerable parents. “The cost has been high for both the dolphins and those desperate for release or cure. There are no studies of interactions having radical results,” states its website.
Yet parents are seeing results, enough to make them raise the huge sums of money needed to go back for further Dolphin Therapy time after time.
Sara Chicken has twice taken her daughter Emily, who has Rett Syndrome, to Florida. I first read about Dolphin Therapy in a magazine. Then I saw a TV documentary and contacted Dolphin Cove in Florida.’
Eight-year old Emily hyperventilates, constantly wrings her hands and has no gripping strength but Sara is convinced the therapy has been a big help.
“Before we went I thought, It’s not a miracle cure’ - I never expected that. But Emily loved it and she was a different child when we came back home. It lasted a couple of months, then we started to raise money again and went back a year later.
Before the Dolphin Therapy, Emily was trapped in a world of her own and cried a lot, but since we’ve returned, she has been noticeably brighter, more aware and she’s making more eye contact.”
Sessions run over a five-day or two-week programme of dockside-based therapy followed by dolphin interaction. Children must be aged from three years and have head control, be able to swallow, and must not display aggression or have had a seizure in the last 6 months.
“We booked 18 months in advance and went when Emily was 4 months old. She had an intense 10 days, with 40 minutes of therapy a day. She was matched with a therapist to suit her needs – the first time we went she had a physio and they worked on the dockside in the sunshine. On our second trip, a speech therapist massaged her mouth, face and neck to encourage Emily to talk. We were able to sit on the side, watch and take photographs”.
“Emily had to complete a task, like pointing to ‘yes’ or ‘no’ cards in response to a question, and the reward was swimming with the dolphin. She also sat on the side and the dolphin came and kissed her feet, which was lovely”.
“The most amazing thing was watching Emily being pushed along by the dolphin as she held on to a float. She can’t talk, but she was really excited and made lots of vocal noises. I felt really emotional.”
The biggest drawback is the price. “It’s expensive,” agrees Sara. “It was £500 a day for the 40 minute therapy sessions. The whole trip for the 4 of us cost £12,000, including tickets to Walt Disney World. We would love to go again but it is a lot of money to raise”.
So is it worth it? Sara certainly thinks so. “If it hadn’t been for the therapy, Emily wouldn’t be like she is today. She is more able to communicate and sometimes laughs and giggles. We play ‘ready steady go!’ when she runs from one side of the room to the other – she would never have been able to do that before. Sometimes she really looks at my husband when he is talking and we are sure she knows what he is saying.”
Using dolphins commercially has become a lucrative business and swimming with dolphins was voted the number one experience that people most wanted to do in their lifetime, for the BBC 1 programme 50 Things to do before I die. But this popularity presents a serious threat to the welfare of dolphins, as it creates a market for further captures, trade and captive breeding.
Due to these ethical concerns, research is being carried out into electronically replicating the benefits of dolphin interaction. The Dolphin Dome Project, run by The International Dolphin Watch (IDW), aims to create an interactive, sensory environment inside a dome. Using technology to project images and sound, the dome will simulate and investigate the physical and psychological effects experienced during human-dolphin interaction, without using captive dolphins.
“It is undeniable that dolphin healing has a powerful effect on the human psyche, “says Dr. Horace Dobbs, Founder of IDW. “The ethos of the Dolphin Dome Project is to treat the whole family so that the benefits then get passed back to the child again. The other advantage of the dome is that severely disabled children who cannot be treated in water can be reached – and you won’t have to travel to Florida. We are also developing a mini dome for individual use. The Dilo Dome is much cheaper to produce and useful for children with Asperger’s syndrome as they often want isolation.”
Eventually though, Horace predicts The Dolphin Dome Project will have a big impact on medicine and that treatment will one day be available privately or on the NHS. Will it be as good as the real thing? Horace is optimistic. “Our aim is to try and identify the essence of the benefits humans receive from dolphins and we believe it will be an improvement on the original concept.”

Our Lady of Guadalupe; she has appeared to me in many of my sessions. I feel she is often with me, guiding and protecting me as I help others in their healing. This year, she appeared to me on New Year's Eve, right as the clock struck midnight, turning the year into 2009. I was overwhelmed with a great feeling of peace and euphoria as the new year commenced; what a wonderful message of love she brings to all. As she appeared, at the same time, my dear friend Angela came to me as well, helping me usher in the new year with a happy message of, "Happy New Year!" I was thrilled to see and hear these beautiful messages, it was awesome.
